About me
For over a decade, Kristy has applied her background in toxicology to support CDPHE’s environmental public health efforts. Working across the department’s environmental and public health divisions, she bridges the gap between environmental policy and public health protection to ensure risk and response decisions are clear and actionable. She has supported the state’s response to significant environmental challenges, including the Gold King Mine spill, the Marshall Fire, and emerging PFAS contaminants near Peterson Space Force Base.
Responding to public health concerns ranging from everyday issues to emergencies requires assessing and communicating risks through a human lens. Kristy draws on technical knowledge of toxicology and risk assessment with behavioral and social sciences to improve public health outreach and community engagement. She focuses on translating complex scientific data into information that is accessible, empathetic, and actionable for all Coloradans.
