About me
Harry Smolker is a Research Scientist at the Institute of Cognitive Science at the University of Colorado-Boulder, where he is spearheading a series of interdisciplinary projects investigating air pollution’s long-term impacts on the brain and mental health. Harry obtained his PhD in Cognitive Psychology from the University of Colorado-Boulder in 2020, with an emphasis on using magnetic resonance imaging and behavioral genetic techniques to characterize the neuropsychological processes central to mental illness. In addition to his work investigating the long-term impacts of air pollution, Harry has ongoing projects utilizing machine learning methodologies to understand what goes on in the brain when people engage in repetitive negative thought, and how mindfulness-based practices may disrupt these pathological thought processes.
